Because of the changes that has taken almost two years ago in my professional life, I completly forgot to mantain this blog.

Two years ago we began to work with an amazing group of professionals with whom I feel very comfortable. So much, that after a year working together we decided to create DBLOOP WORK AREA. Now DBLOOP is more than a year old and we are very excited.

The fact is that I want to resume the activity in this blog and want to do it strongly. To begin I will show you my twitts. I will also open a new category of posts to show you the wonders of CakePHP without forgeting to write about topics that may be of interest.

Well, let's start again.

Openbravo installation on Ubuntu 9.04

One of the most successful articles at moixo.com was the one than explains how to install Openbravo on Ubuntu. I allways have in mind to write a new post showing this process for new versions of the software, since now I had no time to do it. Finally I installed the latest version of Openbravo on the newest Ubuntu, the 9.04 release. The process is described in detail in this article.

Virtualization is becoming essential for any software developer. Operating Systems compatibility has been improved over the years, but there are still some tests that must be done by developers over different platforms and operating systems.

Web developers that use Mac OSX need to test their sites on different browsers like Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8. If you don't want to waste your hardware installing Windows, you can use any of the existing virtualization tools.

On Mac OSX there are mainly 3 wonderful options: Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion and VirtualBox. In my case, the are two reasons that made me decide wich one to use: free and open source. That is VirtualBox.

Many of us know the work and practices that the famous SGAE has maintained in recent years, mainly to denounce and prosecute, in defense of copyright. ¿Remember the famous taxes applied to digital storage devices?

Enable remote access to MySQL the easiest way

Due to specific necessities in a project that dbloop is developing, we need to enable remote access to MySQL database form the other machines in our LAN. It isn't so easy to find good information about this issue. There are many posts but don't give clear info about how to solve it. Finally, a post gives us the solution.
